TRANSFIRE is inspired by Miles Oberman’s amazing poem On Trans. In the poem, Oberman talks about the queer experience of transing gender in the same register as drinking a glass of wine in front of a fireplace. For Oberman, both experiences are the same: mundane yet extraordinary, finite yet ongoing, complex yet extremely simple.
To celebrate the paradoxical nature of trans-ing gendered and sexual expectations, we’re putting together a short film program that delves into the depths of queer and trans desire through the lens of filmmakers from around the globe.
The films are funny, sexy, sad, angry, loving, desperate, communal, solitary and so, so worth a watch.
This screening is happening in two locations on April 29th!
